Howden awarded Corporate Chartered status

Howden awarded Corporate Chartered status

Howden is proud to announce that its UK business has been awarded Corporate Chartered status by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

Achieving Chartered status demonstrates Howden’s commitment to delivering the highest standards in insurance broking.  Fulfilling rigorous criteria set by the CII, Howden has shown excellence in industry expertise and professionalism by driving best practice throughout the entire business.

To date, less than 6% of broking firms have achieved Chartered status.[1]  This indicates it is an exclusive award reserved only for those organisations which consistently meet the right criteria and are committed to ensuring the highest standards are adhered to by all staff.

Howden provides tailored insurance solutions for a broad range of clients in the UK; spanning professions and financial institutions, businesses – large and small, local and global and across sectors, affinity groups including trade associations, special interest groups and private clients.

Howden recently acquired two other UK insurance brokers, Perkins Slade and Powell Bateson, and merged with R K Harrison, who have all previously held Chartered status.  In 2015 Howden was awarded several industry accolades, including Insurance Insider ‘Broking Initiative of the Year 2015’ and Reactions ‘Broker of the Year 2015’, and R K Harrison was honoured to receive the award for Insurance Times ‘Excellence in High Net Worth Broking 2015’.

Howden’s Chartered status will officially commence on the 1st April 2016.

Stuart Rootham, joint managing director, Howden UK Retail General Insurance commented “Following the recent acquisitions of Perkins Slade and Powell Bateson and merger with R K Harrison, Howden has the scale and regional footprint to become a leading UK powerhouse in insurance broking.  Achieving Chartered status illustrates our commitment to providing clients with the highest standards and service across all of our teams, underpinned by a strong investment in the professional development of our staff.”

Graeme Sutton, Director of Corporate Development at the CII, said, “Howden is clearly committed to developing the insurance profession and we are delighted that they have achieved Chartered status.  This announcement offers further evidence that insurance brokers are alive to the benefits of professionalism, both as a driver of competitive advantage and as an important means of building confidence and trust in the insurance sector.”
