Support from NCA:
"As the proprietor of Victoria Lodge for the last 27 years I am extremely proud to have achieved the outstanding ratings in caring and well led, giving us the overall rating of outstanding.
This could not have been achieved without my loyal staff, my service users and their friends and family. I have been a member of the National Care Association now for many years, and would like to say thank you for your support, guidance and advice given throughout the years."
Sue Howard, Proprietor, Victoria Lodge Care Home
Knowledgeable experts and guidance:
"I am delighted that following our inspection by CQC in September 2016 that CQC has rated Wren Hall Nursing Home as Outstanding.
It is a fantastic achievement for all who work at Wren Hall, who live at Wren Hall and who visit Wren Hall.
Our management team strives for continuous improvement but could not have evidenced being an 'outstanding' service without all of our partners who feel more like our family members than customers/colleagues. I believe that one reason that Wren Hall Nursing Home keeps ahead of the majority is that we ensure that we are well informed and we embrace best practice. Being a NCA member gives us access to knowledgeable experts and guidance which has helped us ensure that we offer a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led Nursing Home."
Anita Astle, Wren Hall
Getting support from our partners:
"In January 2016 you kindly referred a Residential Care Home (East Grinstead) who were unhappy with their solicitor and who were defending an Employment Tribunal action raised by a former employee. This included claims of unfair dismissal and whistle blowing.
I am pleased to be able to report that we had the Tribunal Judge’s Judgment yesterday, and in effect, the care home won the case. The Judge determined that the dismissal had not been unfair and the whistle blowing claim was dismissed."
Following NCA assistance after CQC inspection:
“I would like to thank National Care Association for your support, help and guidance to rectify an unjustified and unrepresentative CQC inspection at the Star Nursing Home. The NCA advised us in a professional, friendly and timely manner linking us directly with a senior advisor at the CQC who in turn supported us, listening and advising us on the process and approach of forwarding on the factual inaccuracy report. The background work by The NCA leading to the direct contact with CQC was undoubtedly a key factor in the process. This joint working and fighting of common causes is a testament to the NCA itself and the passion and commitment shared by members in promoting the best principles in health and social care. Where funding is increasingly scarce yet regulatory requirements are ever more demanding it is imperative that providers challenge what they perceive as unfair requirements and judgements. For providers to do so using the expertise and influence of the NCA sends a positive, consistent and coordinated message and fights for consistency in regulatory approaches and justice for the small fish in the big pond!”
WC Smit (Managing Director Trust Care)
Real value of membership:
“I operate a large care home in the Midlands and am member of National Care Association. I believe we obtain incredible value out of our membership fees - from the supplier discounts we receive to the vital information that is shared via the E newsletter, website and the seminars offered up and down the country and from being able to contact the office and ask for expert advice and guidance through a group of very experienced and well networked fellow care business providers and associated legal, clinical and industry experts.”
Using the member benefits:
“According to my financial advisers the value of our membership in the benefits we receive far outweighs the cost of membership. Just the amazing deal we get each year on our Home’s insurance through Howden (formerly CHIS) more than pays for the cost of our National Care Association membership!”
