Annual Social Care Reception 2018
We were delighted to see so many of you at the Annual Celebration of Care held by NCA. We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did. It was a unique opportunity to bring together members and supporters together in the place where decisions affecting our services are made.
It was disappointing that parliamentary business kept the Minister from joining us at the last minute but we were pleased to receive her note of support for the Association and the sector as a whole (which you can read below). The speeches were really well received including Andrea Sutcliffe's reflections as she steps down from her role at CQC.
Undoubtedly the hit on the day was Dr Jennifer Bute who spoke about her experiences post a diagnosis of dementia. There was pin drop silence as she spoke and I think people would have listened on had time not been an issue. Many members and supporters were able to purchase her book "Dementia from the inside: A doctors personal journey of hope" on the day and many more have done so after the day.
We have to congratulate the catering team at the House of Commons for the amazing selection served. We know that everyone at the event ate well on the day!
We would like to thank our sponsor, and valued partner of NCA, Mat Whittingham of QCS for supporting the event.
We hope to be able to hold the event again in 2019.

National Care Association
"I’d dearly love to be with you today – it’s such a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the amazing work of social care providers up and down the country, and the work of the National Care Association itself. As I approach my first anniversary in the role, I’ve been struck by the dedication, hard work and perseverance of the sector and seen incredible stories at every level – from the most devoted and loyal care workers to inspiring leaders.
Even though I can’t be with you, rest assured that we’re working to ensure social care is given the support it needs. I hope you all enjoy today’s celebration."
My very best wishes,
Minister of State for Care
"A brief note to say a big thank you to you for your hospitality in the House on Wednesday.
Not only was it an excellent occasion, with some really important speeches, but I was also delighted to have the chance to meet Raj Sehgal and his son once again.
Obviously there are many different challenges in front of you, but the Association is incredibly fortunate to have people of your calibre at the helm.
I look forward to staying in touch."
Every best wish,
Sir Henry Bellingham

It is important to look at the evidence within this paper which highlights the state of the sector from the provider perspective. This is a true reflection of what the people working at the coalface are feeling and the challenges they face on a daily basis. It is clear that the recruitment crisis is of equal standing as the shortfall in fees and the two combined are creating the instability.
