With 122,000 vacancies across social care services and 1.4 million people believed to be going without the care and support they need every day, the incoming government must seize the opportunity and come forward with proposals that will last a generation and more.

1. We need to redefine what we mean when we talk about Social Care to incorporate all the Health Care responsibilities undertaken by the sector

2. We need to create a responsible funding model for the delivery of care in care homes and in care at home services thereby creating a strong, robust and sustainable funding model fit for the future

3. We need a strategic evaluation of a qualification based recognition of our workforce to support safe recruitment and retention which providers can access. This should include the accessibility of a migrant workforce for social care providers.

4. We need recognition for the social care sector and its workforce.
