Alzheimer’s Society & Leeds City Council invites you to
A Care Home Event
To Launch a Care Home Community Engagement Toolkit
Alzheimer’s Society has been running the Airedale Social Movement Programme in Airedale and Leeds since August 2016. This programme is funded by NHS England as part of their New Models of Care Health of a Social Movement Programme until April 2018. The programme aims to bring local communities into the care home, and put the care home at the heart of the community by encouraging local people to become actively involved in care homes.
As part of the sustainability of our project we have published a toolkit for care home staff; a How To Guide that will give care home managers and staff guidance on how to create a community within the care home & bring members of the local community into the home to volunteer, befriend, run activities and form friendship groups with residents.
We would like to share our best practice guide and learning with care home managers, owners and commissioners so that you are able to use our learning to ensure that all care homes integrate with their local communities. We would like to share how beneficial this work is for both residents and the wider community.
