BRACE Dementia Conference

The Future Inn, Bristol, BS1 3EN

Building on the successful day conference "Dementia: Hope for the Future" in 2014, we are holding another conference on similar lines.

This year's conference is called "Together for Dementia" and will continue our work of bringing together people with diverse perspectives on dementia - researchers, clinicians, carers, care home managers, campaigners, designers, policy makers and, of course, people who themselves are living with dementia. Anyone who wants to learn about or discuss any aspect of dementia is welcome.

We will again welcome top news presenter Martyn Lewis as our guest chairman and there will be speakers covering a range of issues concerned with dementia. The event will culminate in an hour long discussion with an expert panel and audience, starting at 2pm.

The conference opens at 10am with open networking and an opportunity to visit exhibition stands. The order of events thereafter is:

10:40 Welcome and introduction

11:00 Professor Patrick Kehoe and Dr Liz Coulthard (University of Bristol) - "Behind the headlines"

11:30 Sheila Mackintosh (Mackintosh O'Connor Associates) - "Living with dementia in mainstream housing"

11:55 Professor Tony Bayer (Cardiff University) - "Lifestyle and dementia"

12:20 Lunch

13:20 "Living with dementia" - interviews with Norman McNamara (founder of the Purple Angel) and Hilary Doxford (World Dementia Council member)

14:00 Question Time - panel discussion with audience participation

The conference is free but must be booked in advance. Parking is free in the Cabot Circus car park provided you take your ticket to the hotel reception to be franked before you return to your car. There are good public transport links nearby, notably Temple Meads Station and Bristol Bus Station.

Tea and coffee will be provided at the start and again with a light lunch. Please let us know by the end of October of any special dietary needs.

We can supply a certificate of attendance afterwards on request for anyone who would find this helpful for CPD.
